Mission

The Centre for Evidence Synthesis and Policy seeks to promote best evidence generation and use in informed decision-making in healthcare delivery and  policy in low and middle-income countries by:

  • rigorous and systematic synthesis of research evidence through collaboration with institutions and next-generation scientists (early- and mid-career scientists), policymakers, health professionals and relevant stakeholders to bridge the gap between research and policy.
  • aligning research priorities with national, regional, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to contribute to evidence-informed policies that drive sustainable development, improve societal well-being, and create positive impacts by establishing partnerships and addressing complex social, environmental, and good health and well-being.
  • building capacity of scientists, healthcare providers and policymakers in generating, disseminating and using innovative, demand-driven, policy-relevant high-quality evidence that will inform sound clinical, economic, environmental, social, and policy decisions.
  • striving to engage with the wider community of stakeholders and advocate for the adoption of evidence-informed approaches to decision-making through collaborative initiatives and networking to promote a deeper understanding of the principles of evidence synthesis and translation that will foster a culture of reliance on best-quality evidence at all times.

Vision

To advance innovative, demand-driven, policy-relevant and context-specific research through capacity building in evidence synthesis and translation into policy and practice and become the prime Evidence Synthesis Centre in low- and middle-income countries.
